Summary

When Rose McCarthy’s staff at Mode magazine pitches a cover shoot with Hollywood’s hottest young actress, the actress’s sizzling affair with a bestselling French author is exposed。 The author happens to be Rose’s son-in-law, which creates a painful dilemma for her。 Her daughter Nadia, a talented interior designer, has been struggling to hold her marriage together, and conceal the truth from their young daughters, her family, and the world。 But Nicolas, her straying husband, is blinded by passion for a younger woman—and not only that, she is pregnant with his child。

Nadia’s three sisters close ranks around her, flying to Paris from Los Angeles and New York to lend support and offer their widely divergent advice。 Athena, a jovial celebrity chef with her own TV show in Los Angeles, is leery of marriage。 Olivia, a stern conservative New York superior court judge, is haunted by a shocking secret of her own。 Venetia, a zany fashion designer, happily married with three kids, has the gentlest, most realistic point of view。 Despite their well-meaning advice, Nadia needs to figure out what she herself thinks, and what to do next。

The Affair is about the painful journey to discover who you are, what you want, and how much forgiveness and compromise you are capable of in order to be loved。 It’s about finding yourself at the crossroads of life when everything is on the line。 It’s about the hard lessons we are forced to learn about others and ourselves。 Right up until its final twist, this gripping novel is full of powerful insights about who we love, how much—and even how much we love ourselves。

It was a love/hate read。 I so enjoyed it but felt sad, happy, mad, tearful and just split on the decision she made。 But the heart wants true love and in the end theirs was a love they did t won’t to live without。 But also Nicholas knew Nadia could make it without him, she didn’t need him, she loved him。

Was her typical book。 In my opinion, there wasn't enough spice it it。 It was so predictable and for many, not the road people would take。 Was her typical book。 In my opinion, there wasn't enough spice it it。 It was so predictable and for many, not the road people would take。 。。。more

Not Steele at her bestI thought it was ràther corny, Seemed to be overly pretentious and dwelt so much on their apparel。 Nicholas should not have been forgiven, twice a cheater should have been his downfall。

I read some reviews before I bought this book and they were not good。 I always best to my own drum bought it and read it and loved it。 Nadia was a awesome role model。 I loved how her family supported her。 It also shows you don’t throw stones unless you are 100% perfect。

Read It!The Affair is a book about the challenges of every day life as far as the choices people make, heartbreak, healing, forgiveness and the strength within。 Strong family ties play a big role in the story。

I was not happy with what Nicholas did but I do understand Nadia taking him back。 Not so much about shame but about love。 I liked it and have read Danielle for years。 And in fairytale fashion I could see how Nick got caught up in what he did。 But 11 years is a long time to love someone and stop。

For the last 15 years, every Danielle Steel novel is the same: main characters are wealthy, thin, good looking and successful。 Even when the predictable terrible event happens to them, they rise up and the book has a happy ending。 She constantly repeats character or scene details, oftentimes on the same page or chapter。 I think the author has lost touch with reality and how “normal” people live。 I would have loved to see her adopt a more realistic storyline where readers can actually relate but For the last 15 years, every Danielle Steel novel is the same: main characters are wealthy, thin, good looking and successful。 Even when the predictable terrible event happens to them, they rise up and the book has a happy ending。 She constantly repeats character or scene details, oftentimes on the same page or chapter。 I think the author has lost touch with reality and how “normal” people live。 I would have loved to see her adopt a more realistic storyline where readers can actually relate but I’ll never know because this book was my last Danielle Steel novel。 。。。more

I did not care for this book at all。 It seemed very repetitive。 As though she kept driving home the point that he still loved his wife and cared deeply for her。 Well- if that was the case, why have the affair in the first place? I thought it was pretty ridiculous。 The only thing saving this from a two star rating was the relationships she had with her sisters。 That was the only salvageable part of the story。 I did not care for the ending either。 My advice? Skip this one。

The AffairGreat read。 A story about every day things that happen in ourLives and people choose to handle the situation。 I have never been disappointed in a Danielle Steele book

Judy Schneider

Repetitive, redundant, ridiculous。 Possibly the worst DS I have ever read。

Nadia’s husband’s blatant affair changes her life in more ways than one。 Her sisters rally around her and her mother does as well as she faces the challenges of a love that suddenly changes her life in more ways than one。

I'm a Danielle Steel fan but this book was a little disappointing。 I can't believe a mother and daughter would be such saints as to accept an affair, a baby from a mistress and betrayal from a husband。 Rose McCarthy discovers her son-in-law is cheating on her daughter, Nadia。 Rose's other daughters are a little neutral but these characters seem a little unrealistic。 We are taught forgiveness but this one was just a little over the top for me。 I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a faire I'm a Danielle Steel fan but this book was a little disappointing。 I can't believe a mother and daughter would be such saints as to accept an affair, a baby from a mistress and betrayal from a husband。 Rose McCarthy discovers her son-in-law is cheating on her daughter, Nadia。 Rose's other daughters are a little neutral but these characters seem a little unrealistic。 We are taught forgiveness but this one was just a little over the top for me。 I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a faireand honest review。 。。。more

*Thank you to Danielle Steel, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review*Dear Danielle Steel,This is the 2nd book I have read by you and I will no longer entertain reading your books。 I found the premise of the book interesting。 A devoted husband has an affair with the young woman starring in his film and tows the line between his loving wife and his selfish costar, now pregnant with his son。 The loving wife keeps letting him walk all over her while he is photographe *Thank you to Danielle Steel, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review*Dear Danielle Steel,This is the 2nd book I have read by you and I will no longer entertain reading your books。 I found the premise of the book interesting。 A devoted husband has an affair with the young woman starring in his film and tows the line between his loving wife and his selfish costar, now pregnant with his son。 The loving wife keeps letting him walk all over her while he is photographed everywhere with his girlfriend, 20 years younger than him。 As the reader, my issue was not with the story line。 It kept my interest and as usual; you write powerful women who are very nearly perfect with a hidden secret or two。 They are all well dressed, wealthy and beautiful。 What you seem to despise are women who don't fit into that mold, and it has become clear in the two books I have read by you that a woman who is overweight or slightly off kilter should be called out and shamed。 In this book, shamed by a 6yo, who thinks that despite her aunt's weight, she still thinks she is beautiful。 Athena has close to the perfect relationship with Joe, as he is overweight, as well。 She also may not wear beautiful clothing like her thin sisters, so she covers herself up with flowy clothing to cover up her weight。 Sadly, the fat shaming was not the only issue with this book。 Almost from the first chapter, the story becomes very repetitive。 Repeating details several times throughout each chapter。 An example would be that we know Venetia has red hair。 We are told several times in each chapter, as if the reader has forgotten from several sentences before that。 We know that three of the sisters are tall and that Nadia is short。 Again, several times in each chapter。 It seemed that Ms。 Steele was looking for space to fill or to get her word count up。 The reader is told so many times that Athena and her partner, Joe, are not married that we begin to roll our eyes。 The 6yo and 9yo daughters have full on adult conversations between them, discussing their Father and their theories on why he isn't around as much。 It feels like the author jumped ship with this book。 Maybe her conservative values and opinions should stay out of her novels。 。。。more

Great book by Danielle。 Love all her storiesA woman finds out her son in law is having an affair。 Her family then rallies around her daughter that is married to the cheater。 But when it all comes down to it, everyone has secrets。 You never know what you will find out。

Di Schlenk

Rather disappointed with this book。 While I love the strength of the family and how they love and support each other, the reunion of the cheating husband and his wife was just not realistic

Rivkah

Not one of her better books。 Also, I finally realized that Danielle Steel is way too focused on slim bodies。 She keeps on mentioning how her characters managed to bounce back to their prepregnancy size after giving birth, and in this book one of four sisters is a little larger than the rest, but she couldn’t lounge by the pool in shorts, she had to wear a dress to cover her larger size。 Apparently larger people can’t wear shorts? I’m annoyed。 Get with it, Danielle。

Kalenaj

I I know she is popular, but I forget that I am not a big fan。 Not a lot of substance and easy reading!

Lisa

I guess I’m in the minority with my 2-star rating, but I didn’t enjoy this book。 Boring in most parts and I didn’t really care how it turned out。

When I was younger I read a lot of Danielle Steel。 Honestly, I remember some of her earliest work being so good。 I haven’t read one of her books in many years, but I was recently at the library and this one looked intriguing。 Well, let me be the one to tell you, looks are deceiving。 I have now wasted several hours that I can never get back。 Hours that would have been better spent cleaning my trash can or cutting my grass with scissors。 This book is total fucking trash。 In every possible way。 Rub When I was younger I read a lot of Danielle Steel。 Honestly, I remember some of her earliest work being so good。 I haven’t read one of her books in many years, but I was recently at the library and this one looked intriguing。 Well, let me be the one to tell you, looks are deceiving。 I have now wasted several hours that I can never get back。 Hours that would have been better spent cleaning my trash can or cutting my grass with scissors。 This book is total fucking trash。 In every possible way。 Rubbish。 Garbage。 Scum。 I was going to write some long review detailing all the ways this book is just shit, but frankly it has wasted enough of my life。 Just know it’s full of fat shaming, slut shaming, forgiving absolute atrocious behavior in the name of “love”, abandoning a child because he doesn’t fit in with your life, and this absolutely ludicrous idea that someone can rip your life to total shreds and your relationship with them will be back and better than ever in one freaking month。Honestly this book should have a warning label advising that it’s literally a novel based on everything you should never, ever do in your entire life。 This is literally the worst book I’ve ever read in my entire life。 Full stop。 Someone please tell Dani it’s time to retire。 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND。 I gave one star because zero isn’t an option。 。。。more
